Medtronic, the world’s leading medical device technology company dedicated to providing lifelong solutions for people with chronic disease, awarded Weiss-Aug as one of the top 12 suppliers from their 52,000 worldwide vendor base. For over 25 years, Weiss-Aug has collaborated with R&D teams of Medtronic at both: Boulder, CO and North Haven locations on the development and manufacture of surgical instrument components and sub-assemblies.
“Weiss-Aug is proud to be recognized by Medtronic with this “Supplier Excellence” award. We continue to focus on improving its R&D capabilities, work to implement new technologies that reduce our time to market and always strive to provide Medtronic with the best quality products. “– proudly confirmed Elisabeth Weissenrieder-Bennis, Executive Vice President Surgical Products & Weiss-Aug Mexico.
“For Weiss-Aug, this recognition means that we are fulfilling our promise of quality, precision and excellence in the best possible way. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with Medtronic.” – added Richard Fox, Senior Program Manager for Surgical Products Division.
The key factors, that were considered by Medtronic while building the ranking for the “Supplier Excellence” award included: Commitment to Innovation, Service, Quality and Value. In the past years, Weiss-Aug successfully supported the development and launch of numerous sophisticated sub-assembly projects for Medtronic, totaling over 30 discrete components.
The strategic partnership with Medtronic started in 1990. Soon after (in 1992), the PMA (Precision Metal Forming Association) awarded Weiss-Aug with the PMA Higgins Design Award for its contributions in the development of a power conductor for electrosurgical pencils. Both companies have grown massively and changed in the past two decades. In the past 3 years alone, Weiss-Aug has launched a plant in Monterrey, Mexico to better support the strategic needs of Medtronic, and invested in new technologies for machining, metal stamping, secondary processing and insert molding. The Surgical Division of Weiss-Aug, dedicated to the development of components for medical devices, just expanded capabilities of prototyping by installing best in class cutting and welding technology. The new Laser Lab Center with its state-of-the-art technologies optimize prototype fabrication and supports low volume production programs.
