Precision Metal Stamping

We produce precision metal stamping from materials as thin as .003” and are capable of offering finished stamped metal parts to you with tolerances as tight as ± .0005”.

Weiss-Aug designs and fabricates all of our own carbide progressive precision dies in-house or assembled at our independent tooling division, JK Tool Inc.

Our metal stamping designs and concepts have offered many of our customers a more competitive alternative to traditional technologies such as machining, die casting or MIM.

New developments in our smart tooling combined with advanced press controls provide the capability to produce precision stampings with compound forms and or shapes. This allows us to produce parts for you that could not be produced in a progressive die previously.

For stampings that require additional strength or force, we employ in-die laser welding (to reinforce critical areas in your part) in our custom built high-speed Bruderer laser welding stamping presses. Incorporating in-die measurement, which automatically measures your critical dimensions, allow us to adjust in real time to compensate for numerous variables, such as material variability.

Weiss-Aug’s customer base includes Medical Device OEM’s, Aerospace Component Assembly Suppliers as well as both domestic and offshore Automotive suppliers. We completely understand the cost and quality needs for disposable application specific component requirements as well as supplying precision metal stampings that require millions of actuations over its life cycle.

Prototype Precision Metal Stamping

Our New Program Development Team specializes in working with you on the initial development of your new precision stamping or other stamping service needs. Pre-production services include single prototypes, prototype tooling and advanced engineering support.

We can also aid with material selection and part design to improve your part’s functionality as well as it’s manufacturability. We aggressively use a DFM mentality when working with your design engineers as they develop a precision stamped component.

Customer Service and Program Management Involvement

Each program is assigned an Engineering Program Manager and a Customer Service Specialist for every precision metal stamping program you place with Weiss-Aug. Your Weiss-Aug Team’s primary function and goal is to make sure you are constantly kept in the loop in regards to all phases of your tool build, FAI’s, PPAP and production and that your precision stamping needs will be delivered on time, to spec .. every time. These Weiss-Aug team members are assigned to your program from cradle to grave. Weiss-Aug team members will become an important part resource to your purchasing and engineering departs because of how informed they will keep you of the various aspects and status from concept to design and final production.

High Level of Quality

Our PPM’s are in the World Class levels and are achieved through networked inspection systems that can collect real-time SPC data. Data is analyzed via SPC software in order to achieve capable processes required by the customer. Otto, PPT and Cognex in-line vision systems help Weiss-Aug achieve 100% defect free parts. Vision systems detect trends and automatically shut off the stamping press when an out of specification part is present. All production is monitored through a central software system. This provides real time production data and helps guarantee an efficient operation.

Today through use of innovative lean manufacturing techniques, expansive engineered processes and a strict adherence to the highest quality and safety standards, our stamping plant has successfully produced recent multi-year PPM ratings of less than one. Our stamping philosophies have also earned us high supplier ratings with both automotive and medical customers and continuous positive auditing scores from yearly ISO 9001:2008, TS 16949-2009, ISO 13485:2003 and ISO 14001:2004 audits.
