Weiss-Aug Co., Inc. seeks a junior engineer to assist the Die Repair and Maintenance Department utilizing CAD and engineering-based software. Must be adaptable in project assignments and willing to learn new technology when necessary.
Maintain Tool Request Order (TRO) data base, tracking spares, preparing paperwork and files for spare components ordering, inspecting incoming spares and proper storage of support tooling
Work side by side with Die Repair technicians, documenting all changes and maintaining master copy of black book.
Assist with the processing of data (layouts) for use in WEDM and CNC machining.
Assist with the design of fixtures, gages and other custom tooling or equipment as required.
Assist in identifying areas for continued improvement and opportunities to gain organizational knowledge.
Meet established goals/objectives as set forth by Die Repair Manager and in accordance with Human Resources procedures and guidelines.
Promote cleanliness and safety throughout the entire company.
Maintain integrity of the W-A Engineering files/databases.
Other duties as assigned by Die Repair manager.
Requires a minimum of a 2-yr engineering degree, with 3 years of manufacturing experience in stamping and/or automation.
Ability to read blueprints and other technical documents. Requires understanding of ANSI/ISO drawing standards and GD&T dimensioning.
Proficient in Computer-Aided Design (CAD). At a minimum, must be familiar with at least one 2-D CAD design package (eg. AutoCAD, SolidEdge, CadKey), 3-D CAD (eg. Solidworks, ProENGINEER).
Knowledge of applications for steels, carbides, and other materials for tool and machine construction.
Understanding of die sensors, vision inspection, and/or related technology is preferable.
Knowledge of quality inspection tools and methods, and familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools and methods preferable.
Knowledge of TQM, Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles preferable.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Powerpoint.
Exceptional analytical and computational skills. Knowledge of problem-solving tools and techniques preferable.
Demonstrated creativity and innovation.
