This strategic stamping is a key component in the functioning of a surgical device. Weiss-Aug initially stamped the original relatively simple design of the stamped Power Conductor. However, the design of the overall component required the assembly of two tactile snap domes to our stamping plus the soldering of a wire to the stamping. Hence, over a three year development cycle Weiss-Aug worked very closely with our customer’s new Product Development Team to redesign various features of the stamping to simplify the overall component. The application of the tactile domes was eliminated along with the soldering operation to the wire. The cost of these functions were redesigned out of overall assembly. See the Before and After pictures of the Power Conductor.

Weiss-Aug received a design award from the Precision Metalworking Association for this
innovative redesign effort .
